STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Season 3 With Anson Mount Has Toronto Filming Dates – DELAYED
Update: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 delayed its production start date and no longer appears on Ontario production lists.
Season 3 of space adventure Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, starring Anson Mount as Captain Pike and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock, is expected to start filming in Toronto this Spring.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows the voyages of Capt. Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) on the U.S.S. Enterprise, which predate the voyages of Capt. James T. Kirk on the U.S.S. Enterprise.
Anson Mount and Ethan Peck appeared at a packed panel at Fan Expo Vancouver last weekend.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds tells new stories each episode using different genres and costumes like the OG Star Trek did, but season one had one ongoing emotional arc: Captain Pike grappling with the knowledge that his future is one of constant pain and horrible disfigurement. The season one finale presented him with a different timeline where he saves himself but dooms Spock to a similar agony and a Romulan war that leaves millions dead. Not much of a choice for Captain Pike.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds won a Saturn Award for its first season and made several Top 10 lists for 2022..
Toronto filming dates: May 02 2023 – September 28 2023.
Working title: Lily & Isaac.
Showrunners: Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers
Cast: Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Rebecca Romijn, Melissa Navia ,Celia Rose Gooding, Christina Chong, Babs Olusanmokun, Jess Bush, Carol Kane, Paul Wesley.
Season 2 is expected to premiere later this year on Paramount+.
Season 2:
What happens with Rebecca Romijin’s Number One aka Una, who has been hiding the fact that she is Illyrian? In the final moments of season one, she was arrested for violating the anti-genetic modifications directive.
We will see Paul Wesley’s James T. Kirk in season 2 in some form. In the season one finale’s alternate timeline, he appeared as Captain of the U.S.S. Farragut. (James’s older brother Sam Kirk serves on the U.S.S. Enterprise).
Will we meet a younger version of Scotty whose voice we heard in the alternate timeline? Strange New Worlds’ Chief of Engineering Lieutenant Hemmer (Bruce Horak) died in season 1 but will be replaced by Carol Kane’s Pelia not Scotty.
We get a crossover episode guest-starring Jack Quaid (The Boys) as Brad Boimler from the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks and directed by Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Jonathan Frakes .
Questions about season 3:
Will Paul Wesley’s James T. Kirk be part of season 3?
Will we meet Strange New Worlds’ version of Scotty in season 3?
