Hallmark’s first young Aurora Teagarden Mystery premieres tonight, with Aurora (Skylar Samuels) returning home after college and finding herself caught up in a mystery involving a friend’s fiancé.

Something New filmed in Victoria earlier this Spring with Skyler Samuels as young Aurora, Evan Roderick as young Arthur and Marilu Henner as Aurora’s mother Aida.

The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries decided to reboot last year after the departure of Candace Cameron Bure for the Great American Family channel, by going back into the past with this prequel about the amateur sleuth.

The Prequel:

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New follows a young Aurora Teagarden (Skyler Samuels) back home in Lawrenceton in her post-college days. While her mother, Aida (Marilu Henner) struggles to keep her newfound real estate business, Aurora supports herself by working as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class, and waitresses at the local diner at night, where she shares her love of researching true crime with her friend Sally (Kayla Heller) and police officer Arthur (Evan Roderick). 

When Sally’s fiancé doesn’t show up at their wedding rehearsal, Maid of Honor Aurora gets Arthur to help her search for him. When they discover a body, everyone assumes it is Sally’s tardy groom, but when it turns out to be someone else, Sally’s fiancé becomes the main suspect
