1950s Godzilla is on screen in all his CGI glory in episode 3 of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters but first we see a cast of Godzilla’s massive footprint inside an airport hangar in the Philippines, filmed at the Boundary Bay Airport in Delta, BC.
OG Team Monarch — army officer Lee Show (Kurt Russell) and scientists Dr. Keiko Miura (Mari Yamamoto ) and William Rwanda (Anders Holm) — ask for funding from General Puckett (Christopher Heyerdahl) but don’t get it until after the army successfully lures the giant monster to the Bikini Toll on the Marshall Islands with an atomic bomb.
What’s the series about?
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans in San Francisco that was depicted in the BC-filmed 2014 blockbuster Godzilla,, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.
Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell and Kurt Russell ), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.
The series spans three generations and reveals buried secrets.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters filmed mainly in British Columbia, Hawaii and Japan.
