HBO’s The Last of Us season 2 crew is turning a Downtown Eastside neighbourhood in Vancouver into post-apocalyptic Seattle for filming overnight this Friday.
Production will shoot scenes of “people running” on the 300 to 700 blocks of Raymur Avenue, according to the notice. There will be the sound of gunfire blanks and the presence of animals — horses?
One crew member is painting an owl on the underpass — is this a callback to Joel Miller’s owl mug back in his Jackson, Wyoming house in Part II of the game?

Earlier this week, Bella Ramsey’s Ellie and Isabela Merced’s Dina were spotted filming in Vancouver’s Chinatown as post-apocalyptic Seattle.

What is The Last of Us?
Season One of The Last of Us took place 20 years after modern civilization had been destroyed by a fungal pandemic. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, was hired to smuggle teen Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What started as a small job soon became a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they both traversed across the U.S. and depended on each other for survival.
At the end of season one, Joel and Ellie headed back to Jackson, Wyoming, a walled community of survivors from the fungal pandemic led by Joel’s brother Tommy Miller (Gabriel Luna) and sister-in-law Maria (Rutina Wesley).
In season 2, we meet some new characters In Jackson like Ellie’s new friend Dina (Isabela Merced) and scout Jesse (Young Mazino).
We also meet a group of former Fireflies who join Isaac (Jeffrey Wright)’s Washington Liberation Front (WLF) in Seattle: soldier Abby Anderson (Kaitlyn Dever), who’s seeking vengeance for someone she loved; soldier Manny (Danny Ramirez), doctor Mel (Ariela Barer), military medic Nora (Tati Gabrielle) and Owen (Spencer Lord)
