The new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series, which takes place in the 32nd Century of the later seasons of Star Trek: Discovery, is in production in Toronto on The Star Trek Stage.

Holly Hunter is the Captain and Chancellor of this Starfleet Academy, Paul Giamatti is season one’s Big Bad (a man with an ominous past connected to one of the Academy’s cadets) and Gina Yashere is an Academy instructor.
Returning Star Trek characters: Tig Notaro as Star TrekL Discovery’s Jett Reno, Oded Fehr as Star Trek: Discovery’s Admiral Vance, Mary Wiseman as Star Trek: Discovery’s Tilly and Robert Picardo as Star Trek: Voyager’s The Doctor.
The class of cadets includes: Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner and Sandro Rosta
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will introduce us to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.
The academy set in Toronto is the largest single set ever created for a Star Trek series.
A mammoth two-storey Starfleet Academy set — with a mess hall, amphitheatre, trees, catwalks, multiple classrooms and a view of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge — will be constructed in a single contiguous space on Pinewood Toronto’s 45,900 square foot soundstage, the largest in Canada, reports Variety in its Star Trek cover story.
