Does PERCY JACKSON Set Off to the Sea of Monsters from Vancouver’s Spanish Banks?

Will Percy Jackson start his quest from Vancouver’s Spanish Banks in season 2 of the hit Disney+ series, adapted from Rick Riordan’s second book The Sea of Monsters?

Production is closing the west extension of Spanish Banks this Thursday and Friday for filming.

Production will involve both land and water scenes.

In season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Percy (Walker Scobell) returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) is changing, he learns he has a cyclops half-brother named Tyson (Daniel Diemer), Grover (Aryan Simhadri) has gone missing, and the camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him into the deadly Sea of Monsters to retrieve the Golden Fleece that will save Thalia’s tree, which protects the borders of the camp.

In the book, Percy starts his quest to find Grover and retrieve the Golden Fleece on the Camp Half-Blood beach. Hermes (Lin Manuel Miranda) summons Annabeth and Tyson, and directs the trio to a cruise ship in the distance, warning them they have five minutes before Harpies find them. Percy’s Dad Poseidon (Toby Stephens) helps them by sending a hippocampus (water horse) named Rainbow to take them out to the Princess Andromeda before the Harpies close in.

Are these the scenes that will be filmed on Spanish Banks?

(The movie version of Sea of Monsters shot this sequence on the opposite side of English Bay at West Vancouver’s Ambleside Beach, with one big change from the book — the hippocampus Rainbow takes the trio to a small yacht not a cruise ship).

Here is the season 2 cast at the Disney’s D23 fan event in August.

Daniel Diemer as Percy’s half-brother Tyson; Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth; Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson; Aryan Simhadri as Grover; Dior Goodjohn as Clarissa; and Charlie Bushnell as Luke.
