The REEL Thanks Challenge, an annual two-week fundraising event by the BC film and television industry for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, kicks off on October 1st with 20 Teams competing:
Allegiance; Casket Girls; Devon House 2 aka The Old Guard 2.; Diner Bear aka Avatar: The Last Airbender; Fire Country; The Hunting Party; The Irrational; Kanji aka Invasion; Mink Golden aka Percy Jackson and the Olympians; Rock Springs; Shiver; My Weird School; Sight Unseen; Tracker; The Thundermans; Yellowjackets; Watson; past winner When Calls the Heart; Wild Cards; The Wrong Paris.

The amount of money raised by each Team is “greatly amplified” by sponsors.
Almost $1.8 million has been raised over the years to help needy families in the Greater Vancouver area.
This is the 11th year for the REEL Thanks Challenge, after skipping last year due to Hollywood’s double strikes which shut down several productions.
Past Winners:
Team Spiderwick Chronics won the Reel Thanksgiving Challenge in 2022, raising over $103,000 in two weeks — a new record.
Team Hearties from Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart won the Challenge in 2021, raising over $42,000.
Team Mysterious Benedict Society won the Challenge in 2020, raising over $65,000.
Team Supernatural won the Challenge in 2019, raising $47,450. It also won the social media challenge thanks to some viral videos from its stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins and crew.
Team Supernatural won the Challenge in 2018 too, raising $40,592.
