Surprise! Charli XCX of Brat Summer fame plays a role in Benito Skinner’s college comedy Overcompensating which has wrapped filming in Toronto.
Not only is Charli XCX producing the music for the Amazon Prime Video series, she’s appearing as a guest star.
Overcompensating is a college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Benito Skinner), a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen, a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs. With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.
Benny and his screen parents Connie Britton (Benny’s helicopter mom and struggling empty nester Kathryn) and Kyle; MacLachlan (Benny’s overbearing dad John who can’t seem to move on from Benny’s high school glory days) do Charli XCX’s Apple dance.
