Real-life couple Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood, who got together while filming season 2 of Supergirl in Vancouver, have musical drama Duo in development at NBC.
In Duo, when a soft-spoken, blue-collar worker (Chris Wood) and a magnetic performer (Melissa Beenoist) looking for her next break unexpectedly cross paths, their fateful meeting leads to a partnership that changes them both forever. The project is described as a family drama centered around a new two-person band and the disruption their rapidly rising career has on both their lives and the lives of those closest to them.
Chris Wood, whose character Mon-El, appeared in Supergirl seasons 2 and 3, wrote the Duo pilot script and Rina Mimoun from The Girls on the Bus (which co-starred Melissa Benoist) will be showrunner if the drama is picked up to series, reports Deadline: Hollywood.
The couple, married since 2019 and parents to one son Huxley Robert, are both gifted musical performers:
Melissa Benoist sang and danced on Glee and with Grant Gustin in a Supergirl/The Flash crossover, as well as starring as Carole King in Beautiful on Broadway while Chris Wood had his own Broadway debut performing in Almost Famous.
