Update: Tim McGraw is out of the new Netflix rodeo series about a former rodeo star mentoring a teen girl. The country music star had surgery on both knees last summer and cancelled the remainder of his concert tour.
The lead role will have to be recast.
In his 40s, Aaron Tealey is an honest-to-God Texas hero, a cocksure rodeo star who wears a championship belt buckle for bull riding — but his body is a mess, a partly-mended sack of broken bones that threatens to go ragdoll every time he rides — a bull, a golf cart, anything.
Gloria Soto is a teenage girl who could take away Aaron’s belt buckle and his legend — one of these days, with proper mentoring, if she doesn’t get herself killed. Naomi Soto, Gloria’s mother, wants her daughter to stick to algebra and chemistry and stay far away from the rodeo ring (it should be called The Fool Killer). Two questions will be answered soon: 1. Which way will Gloria jump? 2. How hard will Aaron land?
