After a fan backlash, season 3 of family time-twister The Way Home, starring Chyler Leigh, Andie Macdowell and Sadie Laflamme-Snow, premieres tonight on Hallmark’s main channel instead of its new streamer Hallmark+.
And will air on the W Network on Sunday night, January 5th, in Canada.
For two seasons, Del (Andie MacDowell) was kept in the dark about the time traveling her daughter Kat (Chyler Leigh) and granddaughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) have been doing using the mysterious pond on the family’s property. That changes In the season 3 premiere when her son Jacob (Spencer Macpherson), who fell into the pond as a child and grew up in the 1800s, returns home.
Production on season 3 wrapped last November in Ontario.
What’s The Way Home about?
Divorced journalist Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh) and her teen daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) return home to Port Haven, New Brunswick, to live with Kat’s estranged mother Del (Andie Macdowell) on the family farm with a mysterious time-travelling pond.
In season 2, Kat searched for her younger brother Jacob who west missing as a boy after he fell into the pond and was transported into the distant past. She found him a grown man in 1814 Port Haven and in the season finale adult Jacob (Spencer Macpherson) came home.
Season 3 picks up where season two left off – with Kat (Chyler Leigh) and her brother Jacob (Spencer Macpherson), poised to walk into the Landry home to an unsuspecting Del (Andie MacDowell).
Then Kat attempts to close the door on the 1800s after making startling discoveries.
Later viewers will be introduced to a groovy new era when the pond transports Kat and Alice to 1974 – the year Del (Julia Tomasone) and Colton (Jefferson Brown) first met as teens and their epic love story began.

Alice is befriended by a young, spritely Evelyn Goodwin (Devon Cecchetto) but their budding friendship complicates Alice’s relationship with Del, who wants her memories of Colton to remain the way they are.
How popular is The Way Home on American cable?
Outside of Yellowstone and other Taylor Sheridan shows the two biggest scripted series on cable are When Calls the Heart season 11, which averaged 2.77 million viewers in 2024. And The Way Home season 2, which drew just under 2 million viewers in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
