SHOGUN Wins Big at GOLDEN GLOBES: Tadanobu Asano’s Exuberant Speech

Maybe you don’t know me. I’m an actor from Japan and my name is Tadanobu Asano. Wow!

BC-filmed Shogun won big at the Golden Globes last night, taking Best Television Series (Drama), Best Male Actor in a Television Series (Drama) for Hiroyuki Sanada and Best Female Actor in a Television Series (Drama) for Anna Sawai — a rerun of the Emmys.

But few expected Tadanobu Asano to win Best Male TV Supporting Actor over legend Harrison Ford and repeat Emmy winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and no one was more surprised than Asano himself.

This is a very big present for me — Tadanobu Asano.

Tadanobu in character as fan favourite Kashigi Yabushige, who died in Shogun’s season one finale.

After its massive success, FX renewed Shogun for two more seasons and is expected to return to British Columbia for production this year, with some film locations in Japan.
