Canadian Screen Awards: Allegiance, Bones of Crows, Law & Order Toronto, Potluck Ladies, Sight Unseen

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent leads the nominations in television and overall for the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards, with 20 in total. Surrey crime drama Allegiance, Bones of Crows, Potluck Ladies and Vancouver blind detective drama Sight Unseen are the other Best Drama Series nominees.

Allegiance’s Supinder Wraich, Bones of Crows’ Grace Dove, Heartland’s Michelle Morgan, Hudson & Rex’s Mayko Nguyen, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent’s Kathleen Munroe and Aden Young, Murdoch Mysteries’ Hélène Joy and Plan B’s Vinessa Antoine are the lead performances nominees.

The Best Drama Series Nominees:

Allegiance Season One:

Sabrina Sohal (Supinder Wraich) is a Sikh rookie cop in Surrey caught between loyalty to her badge, her family and her country.

CBC renewed the Surrey drama for a second season of filming with Sabrina Sohal (Supinder Wraich) graduating to the Serious Crimes Unit. Allegiance’s season 2 finale aired last week. Update: CBC ordered a third season of production in Surrey/Vancouver.

Bones of Crows:

Bones of Crows is told through the eyes of Cree Matriarch Aline Spears (played throughout her life by Summer Testawich; Grace Dove, and Carla Rae,) as she survives Canada’s residential school system to continue her family’s generational fight in the face of systemic starvation, racism, and sexual abuse. Bones of Crows unfolds over one hundred years with a cumulative force that propels us into the future. 

The limited CBC series filmed in Manitoba and BC in the Fall of 2021.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent Season One:

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent follows an elite squad of Canadian police detectives, led by Detective Sergeants Henry Graff (Aden Young) and Frankie Bateman (Kathleen Munroe), as they investigate high-profile crimes and corruption within Toronto, delving into the psychological depths of both the victims and the perpetrators.. 

CityTV renewed the drama for a second and third season in Toronto. Season 2 is currently airing and season 3 is in production.

Potluck Ladies :

Sumaira (Natasha Krishnan), Azra (Elisa Moolecherry) and Ruby ( Kavita Musty) ilve in “The Wives Condos” in the suburbs of Toronto with their children while their husbands work in other countries.

Sight Unseen Season One:

Sight Unseen centres on Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis), a top homicide detective who’s forced to quit her job after nearly killing her partner Jake Campbell (Daniel Gilles) and being declared clinically blind. Haunted by a case she left behind, and unwilling to accept her diagnosis, Tess forms an unorthodox partnership with a remote seeing eye guide, Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), to continue her work.
