The Last of Us season 2 filmed Eugene’s death in North Vancouver on Mount Seymour’s Mystery Lake and Goldie Dam trail last June when Pedro Pascal returned to Vancouver to shoot Joel flashbacks.

Local Johnny Cage found the notice of filming for June 24th and 25th last year which warned that “animals” aka horses would be on the trail and to expect the sound of intermittent blank gunfire.

What is the story of Eugene’s death?
Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are out on her first ever patrol on her 19th birthday when they’re called to a serious situation on another trail. Jackson resident Eugene (Joe Pantoliano) has been bitten by an Infected and the rules are clear — he must be shot.
Eugene figures he has about an hour before he turns and wants them to restrain him and take him back to Jackson to see and talk to his wife Gail (Catherine O’Hara) one last time. After doing a quick cognitive check, Ellie wants to honour his request and, after getting a promise from Joel that he won’t shoot Eugene while she’s gone, goes to fetch the horses. When she returns, Eugene is dead.
