A24 horror flick Backrooms, directed by Kane Parsons from his viral YouTube series of an unsettlingly empty yellow office space in the 1990s which may be home to otherworldly beings, starts shooting in Vancouver.
Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in the movie. Cristin Milioti was in early talks to co-star but Renate Reinsve is now confirmed as the female lead .
After her patient disappears into a strange dimension beyond reality a therapist is forced to brave the unknown in order to bring him back alive.
Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell and Avan Jogia join the cast.
The original YouTube series of “found footage” from Kane Parsons has amassed almost 200 million views and the 20-year-old Parsons is the youngest director to work with A24.
