REOPENING: SUPERNATURAL’s First Day Back With Beardless Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles as Sam & Dean

Reopening Hollywood North

Sam & Dean back in the bunker.

Bye bye  pandemic beards. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles returned to set in Vancouver today, to resume production on Supernatural’s final two episodes, after a five-month pandemic interruption.

The Winchesters are back in the Men of Letters bunker, hanging out with SPN Tape Ball.

On arrival in Canada, Jensen & Jared had a strict 14-day quarantine in their Vancouver apartments, with only their dogs for company.

Baby was waiting for them. Jim Michaels image.

And the Bunker.

Plus new Covid-19 safety protocols.

Which makes it unsafe to accommodate fans.

John Showalter and Robert Singer are directing the final two episodes — Inherit the Earth and Carry On.

Episode 19 feels kind of like the season finale for 15 and episode 20 feels like the series finale — Jensen Ackles.

The scripts had to be adjusted to accommodate the pandemic and the Supernatural writers room in Los Angeles is now closed.

Five unaired episodes were completed before production of the final two episodes was suspended in March, out of coronavirus fears.

Where did we leave Supernatural?

The last Supernatural episode to air was the thirteenth episode on March 23rd, with the Winchester brothers looking for an edge against Chuck aka God.

Destiny’s Child  featured Jared and Jensen’s real-life wives  Genevieve Padalecki and Danneel Harris Ackles reprising their characters demon Ruby and can’t-be-trusted Sister Jo.

And ended with Jack getting his soul back and apologizing to Sam & Dean for their mother Mary’s death — “It was all my fault”.  Is a restored Jack strong enough to defeat Chuck?

Who else can we expect to see in the final seven episodes?

Chuck aka God (Rob Benedict), young Sam (Christian Michael Cooper) & Dean (Paxton Singleton), God’s sister Amara/the Darkness (Emily Swallow), angel Uriel (Robert Wisdom), Sam & Dean’s half-brother Adam/Michael’s vessel (Jake Abel), and both our world and Apocalypse world Charlie (Felicia Day) are expected to make appearances.

Episode 14 – Last Holiday: Directed by Eduardo Sanchez. Shows us every holiday you want Sam & Dean to celebrate — birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

Episode 15 – Gimme Shelter: Directed by Matt Cohen. Castiel-centric from what we saw on location in Vancouver.

Episode 16 –  Drag Me Away (From You). Directed by Amyn Kaderali. With young Sam and Dean on one of their first hunts.

Episode 17 – Unity. Directed by Catriona McKenzie. With Amara and Uriel.

Episode 18 – Despair. Directed by Richard Speight Jr. With Sam & Dean & Cas & Jack & Baby.

Episode 19 – Inherit the Earth. Directed by John Showalter. With Chuck aka God and Adam/Michael.

Episode 20 – Carry On. Directed by Robert Singer.

Supernatural’s final run of seven episodes premieres October 8th on The CW.
