Warcraft may be getting poor reviews for its storytelling in its big screen adaption of the popular video game, but not for its visual effects.
Warcraft: The Beginning is a Game of Thrones meets Avatar-style movie with a mix of live-action and computer-generated imagery (CGI). It tells the story of humans and orcs in Azeroth, with sword-wielding human hero Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel) and hammer-wielding Orc hero Durtan (Toby Kebbell) as the central characters. Directed by Duncan Jones, the film co-stars Clancy Brown (Sleepy Hollow), Dominic Cooper (Captain America: First Avenger), Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim/Second Chance), and Daniel Wu (Hong Kong movie star) as humans or orcs, along with local actors Ryan Robbins, Daniel Cudmore and Dan Payne.
If u loved Warcraft, spread the word or better yet, bring someone new to see it!
If not. No worries, but please chill out. It’s just a movie.— Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) June 11, 2016
Thanks to $150-million box office in China after a record-breaking four days, Warcraft: The Beginning has over $250-million in overseas box office. It hasn’t been so well received in North America but the total box office is approaching $300-million in a week.
Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) created the worlds with a little help from metro Vancouver as a backdrop.
