RELEASE DATE: Dark Fantasy SEVENTH SON Pushed Back for Second Time to Early 2014

Originally scheduled for release in mid-February this year, Warner Bros Pictures pushed back the dark fantasy film Seventh Son again from mid-October this year to mid-January next year. Adapted from Joseph Delaney’s The Wardstone Chronicles series, the movie is about an apprentice Tom (Ben Barnes) — the seventh son of a seventh son — to the County Spook (Jeff Bridges) who has imprisoned an evil witch Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore). A young girl (Alicia Vikander) tricks Tom into helping the witch escape.

Seventh Son filmed in Vancouver in the spring of 2012, everywhere from the Britannia Mines near Squamish to a made-over Main Street set at Marine Way and Byrne Road in Burnaby to a huge medieval castle set at Kent Hangar field at Marine Way and Boundary Road in Vancouver.

Some of the main cast returned for reshoots last month, filmed mainly in forests near Maple Ridge or in the Coquitlam watershed, where the above photo was probably taken.The Seventh Son is now scheduled for release in theatres on January 17, 2014.
