Like mother fairy tale series Once Upon a Time, the spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will put a twist on familiar down-the-Rabbit-Hole characters like Alice (Sophie Lowe), the Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha), the Red Queen (Emma Rigby), the White Rabbit (voiced by John Lithgow) and mash up their stories with characters from other worlds like the genie Cyrus (Peter Gadiot),whom Alice falls in love with, and his nemesis Jafar (Naveen Andrews) from Aladdin. The  back-half of the premiere, which is being filmed in Vancouver right now, features the Caterpillar (voiced by Roger Daltry) and the Cheshire Cat as well. Plus a visit to  Storybrooke for scenes of the Knave of Hearts in Granny’s Diner.

Barbara Hershey’s Queen of Hearts could make an appearance in the preliminary 13-episode arc, but not Sebastian Stan’s The Mad Hatter until his busy schedule opens up. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland premieres Thursday, October 10th, on ABC.

Local fan Larry (@BastardSonVan) shares his photos of  the Once Upon a Time In Wonderland panel at San Diego Comic-Con taken last month from the front rows of the vast Ballroom 20. He captured Sophie Lowe looking like the Alice we imagine her to be — lovely in repose but one who can kick ass if need be.
