What better place to film a flashback of If I Stay’s 17-year-old musician Mia (Chloë Grace Moretz) than the Cobalt Hotel on Main Street? Crew took a nothing parking lot and created a red wonderland on Thursday night for this scene of Mia in a silver wig and her boyfriend Adam (Jamie Blackley) walking to his car and enjoying a passionate kiss. Is this the kind of memory that will persuade Mia — who lies in a coma after a fatal car crash — to stay or leave her life? Crew filmed the kiss over and over and over, first in a long tracking shot for several takes and then a steadi-cam shot for even more takes. There could have been another camera setup after I left.
