Toronto-based visual effects company Intelligent Creatures shared a making-of video of the clonetastic four-clone dance in the Orphan Black season two finale. In Felix’s loft, dying seestra Cosima (Tatiana Maslany) puts on a record (WaterPrayer – Matt the Alien Remix by Adham Shaikh) and starts to move to the music, joined by lead-seestra Sarah (Maslany), wacko-seestra Helena (Maslany) and suburban-seestra Alison (Maslany), as brother-seestra Felix (Jordon Gavaris) interacts with all four women.

Orphan Black showrunners Graeme Manson and John Fawcett told TVLine the scene took two days to film in Toronto, with Tatiana Maslany as Cosima first and three body doubles as the other clones and then Maslany would change and do it over as Sarah, Alison and Helena with the three body doubles changing each time she did.

That’s a tremendous amount of work for the Orphan Black lead actress and doesn’t even count the three full-rehearsals with Maslany, the three body doubles, Gavaris, the camera crew and the VFX team ahead of filming. Maybe awards shows should just put Maslany’s name on next season’s acting trophies and forgo the nominations.

In the final minutes of the video, creators and crew join the clone dance party.
