SHOOT: Ryan Reynolds Unmasked for DEADPOOL Stunt Rehearsal on Vancouver's Georgia Viaduct

Update: Took these photos of the stunt rehearsal the morning after Ryan Reynolds embroiled in an alleged paparazzo hit-and-run by Rik Fedyck, aka @Punkd_Images, in the Shangri-La Hotel underground parking. Didn’t know anything about it until it became public on Sunday.

Vancouver’s own Ryan Reynolds is back in his hometown this Spring to film big budget feature Deadpool aka The Merc With a Mouth directed by VFX whiz Tim Miller. Deadpool is the character Reynolds played in Wolverine, an X-Men Origins movie starring Hugh Jackman, but that film wasn’t true to the amoral motormouth. In Marvel comic-book lore, Wade Wilson is a wise-cracking gun-for-hire with cancer who partakes in military experiments to cure himself by replicating Wolverine’s mutant ability to heal quickly. The experiment succeeds except Wilson ends up terribly scarred. In Wolverine, Deadpool was surgically altered and mouthless. Not this time. Deadpool movie Deadpool never stops talking from what I’ve seen.

Ryan Reynolds was on set early this morning in his Deadpool costume without his mask for a rehearsal on the Georgia Viaduct, joking and laughing with crew. Rehearsal over, he put on his black hooded robe and waved to fans as the black scrims went up to block the filming of the scene. Deadpool started shooting its freeway stunt sequence on a closed Georgia Viaduct last Sunday. The Merc with a Mouth launches himself off a freeway overpass down to an SUV on the road below, crashing through the sun roof into the back seat with the bad guys.
