Celebration of Life: October 17th at North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre. Starts 2:00 p.m.

Rick Faraci was many things. Martial arts champion. Stunt man. Occasional actor. And the original Once Upon a Time cast security guard.

That’s how Once Upon a Time fans knew him. As the security guy in Steveston who made them laugh, knew their names and arranged for so many to meet the cast.

He was familiar before I met him from Psych’s Hangover parody — Last Night Gus — as the owner of Bobo’s Donut Shop.

Rick Faraci was an all-round great guy and much too young to leave us. He died of cancer. His family will celebrate his life on October 17th.

  2. My deepest sympathies to Rick’s Family and Friends. I met Rick when I was a teenager growing up in Winnipeg, he was a true gentleman, friendly, kind, was well respected and had a heart of gold. For 21 years I throughly enjoyed chatting with Rick everytime we crossed paths on a Vancouver film set. a very special man and he will be missed.

    RIP Rick Faraci.

  3. Rick will be deeply missed.. Many times as a locations Rep, we would wrangle the huge crowds in Stevenson together. He used to make all the kids laugh and the mom’s smile ☺

  4. Rick and I played brothers on the pilot for “Cobra”and I got to know him a little. He was a great guy always joking, having a laugh. Rest in Peace Brother Rick.

Brother you will be sadly missed. Rick and myself worked many a filmshoots together. He was a great guy and a wonderful guy to be around. Rest in peace my friend we will meet again one day.

  6. I remember the very first time I had met Rick, it was at Jon Funks Tiger Balm Martial Arts Tournament. Rick asked me to help judge the breaking portion of the tournament in his corner and so I did. I met Sharon ‘Ricks wonderful wife’ that day also. She’s a black belt her self. It was a pleasure. I had also trained with Rick a couple of times in North Vancouver at the community centre with a lot of kicks blocks and punches, very powerful guy. I had also worked with Rick doing Security with Teamsters Local 155 in Vancouver & 6.5 years on Smallville doing some personal protection with him. He wanted to come to our house as we had discussed over the phone on May 2015 and spend some time together, but it never took place. God Bless you Rick where ever you are.

  7. I knew Rick when we were both young, many years ago. He was a big part of my early life and I was happy to hear, years later, that he had two wonderful kids and was so happy with his second wife Sharon. He was a great guy when young and I was pleased to see that he had stayed on the path of his loves and interests.
Super crappy that he went so young! Especially poignant as I write this message on his birthday.
    RIP Ricky

  8. I am tearing up with all the kind things you have all written.
He was a gentle giant most of the time but heaven help you if you disrespected his family, friends and most of all his clients.
Our celebration for him is Oct 17th.
We miss him every minute of every day but know he is at peace.

  10. As his first and most loving wife I, Evette Faraci, mother of our two beautiful children Jennifer Rose and Christopher Richard Paul, I want to testify here that our lives together couldn’t have been more meaningful or more memorable than anybody can imagine.
The pain of our lloss can only be borne by our hope to meet again.

  11. Evette, we were witness to your love and saddened by your break-up. Rick was an outgoing, sometimes egocentric but charismatic person who embraced everyone and made them feel welcomed. He didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and avoided creating conflicts which was the polar opposite of his physical impression. He was great at telling people what they wanted or needed to hear with sincerity and compassion. Although he fought the battle to the bitter end, Cancer got another victory. Please donate to the BCCancerAgency and continue the battle for all of us. |None of us will get out of here alive.

    1. Dear Evette,
I remember Rick and your family in Winnipeg during the Shadow Warriors time. You , Rick,Rose and Christopher such a tight loving home.
The three “Warriors” put their hearts into their projects. They may have followed their separate paths but I believe they will always be linked.
Rick had such ambition and you always supported him. The kids so active, so loved. Family was ultimately important and he wanted the best for you all.

  12. Rick and I trained 7 days a week for 2 years with the
shadow Warriors in Winnipeg 1984. How was a loyal friend. I know he never gave up the fight in life. His dream was realized in time cop. We were proud to know you. My condolences to your family

  13. My favorite scene with Rick was in the disabled boy’s apartment in Rumble In The Bronx with Jackie Chan. Jackie is holding Rick’s character at gunpoint and punches Rick a few times. Rick shrugs it off, so the kid tosses Jackie a football helmet. Rick shrugs that beatdown off, so the kid tosses Jackie a massive pipe wrench. Rick’s character immediately starts whimpering. To this day that scene makes me laugh til I cry.

I never knew Rick’s name, I just remember seeing him as a background bad guy in so many movies. I always thought he made a great bad guy, as many nice guys often do well playing their polar opposite.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Faraci. It’s not very flattering, but I will always remember you as your persona in films…that “tough ponytail guy.”

  14. I was sad to hear the news of Rick’s passing. He was so very kind to train my son in self defense a number of years ago after hearing how my son and his friend were jumped by a gang of older teenagers. In Sympathy

My God, This is a shock. I was telling my wife about Rick this morning and the history between us. I met Rick at the Village Inn in Winnipeg where he was a bouncer. He told me straight i got your back. So no matter where i sang with Highwyre and other bands. Rick was always there. I can see his smiling face and big laugh. May God hold you close till I get there to look after you. Luv ya Rick.

  16. From my dad Henry who knew rick very well from home st wpg.mb.Canada he would like to send his deepest condonence to rick himself and his family rest in peace rick

  17. We met as kids on the streets of Winnipeg. You helped me my friend and though I have a great respect for all you accomplished from where you came. Just read about this and am remembering you. Sorry to your wife and kids. see you soon my friend.

  19. Sharon Faraci – sitting here in Maui with my son and he suddenly remembered that he came to this celebration of life and talked about what he remembered, he is also a green belt know and I just know it’s because of what he saw that day, it’s Jan 2018 and Rick is still having a positive effect on the young 😀

  20. I met Rick in Winnipeg while I was working at 92CITI FM as an on-air personality & promotions manager. Rick & I did a stunt together where he placed a watermelon on my stomach/chest and he sliced it in half with a sword in from of several hundred fans…it was frightening at first but I fully trusted him. He was such a gentle/kind human being, I always hoped that I would run into him when I lived in Vancouver. R.I.P. RF you’ll always be remembered, much love.

  21. I met Rick and Sharon at the Timeless Destinations SF convention, and two kinder funnier fabulous people you couldn’t hope to know. By chance, my group were allocated their table at dinner and did we strike it lucky! We had a great laugh throughout the rest of the time and I learned some swordplay from Rick. Then I became ill and they looked after me, even taking me to their home to keep an eye on me. Rick even gave me one of his katanas, which I treasure.
I was shocked and saddened to hear we lost Rick and my heart went out to Sharon and the rest of his family. They touched many lives, including mine. Blessed be, Rick and Sharon.
