Shane Black’s The Predator is pushed back from this Fall to next year in Vancouver. The movie is now expected to start filming February 20th and wrap May 15th (dates subject to change) according to the Directors Guild of Canada-BC Production List. Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Wolverine 3 villain) is expected to be the new Arnold Schwarzenegger in the new movie. Shane Black (Iron Man 3) co-wrote and is directing the sequel that gets back to the roots of the franchise. He should know how it all began. He had a role in the first one with Schwarzenegger.

What made the original Predator special was the way it built up the human characters first — a team of elite ex-soldiers hired by the American government to extract hostages in South America. Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and the gang seemed unstoppable killing machines until the creature started picking them off one by one. Only a bloodied and battered Dutch remained standing at the end.
Shane Black has said he wants The Predator to be more akin to what Ridley Scott has done with the Alien/Prometheus franchises, making the new movie an event with a great cast that people would want to buy tickets for a month in advance.
“I keep going back to Ridley Scott, the way he captured the alien in that first movie. The sense of mystery and portent. If we could just cut into a little piece of that – that sort of vibe – and then I think there’s humour to be had too. And tonal shifting. I’m just having a ball. I’m getting more excited by the day, 30 years later working on this damn thing.” — IGN.
The Predator has the working title OLLIE, according to Production Weekly.
The Predator is expected in theatres February 9th, 2018.
