Please don’t make the same mistake that Netflix has. Look away before this dire tale is even filmed, and avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.

Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton), who narrates the series of unfortunate events, suggests you not watch the Netflix series which streams January 13th next year.

The story of the Baudelaire orphans is so upsetting and so utterly unnerving that the entire crew is suffering from low morale – a phrase which here means currently under medical observation for melancholia, ennui and acute wistfulness.

The first season has already filmed in Vancouver.

Absent from the teaser is the reason for the warning — the star of the series, the nefarious Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) — except as an offscreen voice.

Joy joy happiness my fortune’s about to change. – Count Olaf.

A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the story of the three orphaned-by-fire Baudelaire children  — Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny — who are forced to leave their mansion to live with their distant relative Count Olaf (Harris). Turns out he’s scheming to get their inheritance so the children have to outwit him while solving the mystery of their parents’ death.
