Lucky Invermere. The winter survival romance with Kate Winslet and Idris Elba is expected to film in this British Columbia mountain town in January. The Mountain Between Us is adapted from the Charles Martin book. Photojournalist Alex Martin (Winslet) and surgeon Ben Bass (Elba) have never met before, but they have at least one thing in common: both need to get back to Baltimore. She’s getting married the next day; he’s to perform emergency surgery. When their flight out of Denver is cancelled they charter a small plane which crashes on a mountain. How will they survive in freezing temperatures and snow? Both are injured, but Ben is a mountain climber as well as a doctor and struggles to get her down the mountain. Maybe Alex’s marrying the wrong guy?
Directed by Hany Abu-Assad and adapted by Chris Weitz, The Mountain Between Us has been spotted around metro Vancouver at Mammoth Studios in Burnaby and the Abbotsford and Vancouver International Airports.

And should be filming in Invermere from January 4th until the end of the month (dates subject to change).
