Catherine Zeta-Jones is in Vancouver to film Lifetime’s Cocaine Godmother. What’s it about? Griselda Blanco, known as the Queen of Cocaine, The Godmother and Black Widow. She built a 1970s cocaine empire which smuggled cocaine from the Medellin Cartel in Columbia to the United States and is accused of ordering 200 murders along the way.

Blanco came to the U.S. as a teen on a fake passport, living in Queens with her first husband and three sons.

She got involved with local drug smugglers and is credited with the idea of using of hot women, children and the elderly as mules. As the family business grew, she moved to Miami with her second husband. His death led to another nickname, the Black Widow. She moved  to California with her third husband where the law finally caught up with her and she was expected to go to prison for a decade. But the case collapsed and she was deported back to Colombia, where she was murdered in 2012.

Guillermo Navarro is directing the film, which is expected to film in metro Vancouver from today to the end of June.
