Motherland: Fort Salem — about an alternate-America’s all-witch military — is renewed for season 2 on Freeform.
In an alternate, present-day America, witches ended their persecution over 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country with supernatural tactics and weapons.

In an alternate America, gender and power are reversed, with women on the military front lines not men. Amd in another twist, their weapons are supernatural not guns and bullets. The series young witches –Taylor Hickson as Raelle (who’s outraged at her mother’s death while serving), Ashley Nicole Williams as Abigail (whose mother is a decorated general), Jessica Sutton as Tally (whose mother doesn’t want her in the military) and Amalia Holm as Scylla — from basic training in combat magic to deployment. Demetria McKinney is Anacostia, a tough but funny staff sergeant, whose job is to keep the young recruits alive until they’re deployed at Fort Salem against powerful witch terrorists known as The Spree.
Lyn Renee, who plays the Commanding General of the U.S., is promoted to series regular in season 2.
From Claws creator Eliot Laurence and Gary Sanchez Productions, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay from Funny or Die are two of the producers, along with Kevin Messick.
