The Umbrella Academy

Same weird family. New weird problems.

Dallas in the 1960s. That’s where the seven Hargreeves siblings end up after they escaped a 2019 apocalypse in The Umbrella Academy’s season one finale. But the time jump has scattered them to different points in time over a three year period.

The earliest to arrive have built new lives in and around Dallas and moved on. By the time #5, known as The Boy, arrives Dallas is headed to a nuclear doomsday caused by the siblings’ disruption of the timeline. Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse, all while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins.

On October 1, 1989, seven extraordinary humans were born.

A disbanded group of superheroes reunite after the death of their adoptive father Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who trained them to save the world.

On one day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. In their teenage years, though, the family fractures and the team disbands. Fast forward to the present time, when the six surviving members of the clan reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. They work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death, but divergent personalities and abilities again pull the estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat. The series is based on a collection of comics and graphic novels created and written by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way.

Showrunner: Steve Blackman.
