NEXT: ARROW’s David Ramsey Does Double Duty on Next LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. Directing & Guest-Starring.

Legends of Tomorrow

Arrow’s David Ramsey is doing double duty next week on Legends of Tomorrow: directing an Old West episode and guest-starring in it as Bass Reeves, the first Black deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River.

KEEPING CALM – With everyone finally back together, the Legends find themselves looking to Nate (Nick Zano) to keep everything calm while in the old West on a mission to find an alien. After trying to keep things normal, Sara (Caity Lotz) reveals her secret to Ava (Jes Macallan) and the team, leaving them all shocked. Constantine (Matt Ryan) looks to Gary (Adam Tsekham) who might have answers to help  his problem. Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) and Astra (Olivia Swann) are forced to work together despite their clashing personalities which ultimately helps push them to hone their powers. Meanwhile, Zari (Tala Ashe) takes an unusual interest in Behrad’s (Shayan Sobhian) personal life. Dominic Purcell also stars. David Ramsey directed the episode written by Matthew Maala (608).

David Ramsey had a deal this season with uber-producer Greg Berlanti to direct episodes of and guest-star in The CW’s Vancouver-filmed superhero shows — Legends of Tomorrow, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, The Flash and Supergirl.

I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera. To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to [this universe] would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories. — David Ramsey in a statement to EW.

Legends is one of these shows, and I’ve said this before, that’s indulgent. “What do you want to do? What different types of stuff do you as an artist want to bring to the show?” It was really fun. The actors are having a great time. Production’s having a great time. You as a director, you’re like, “Let’s try this!” and everyone supports it. That’s not to say they don’t support your choices on the other shows — they do. It’s just that every show has a tone and you don’t do certain things. On Legends? You do ’em. — Ramsey to TVLine.

Legends of Tomorrow season 6 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
