VIRGIN RIVER Renewed For Seasons 4 & 5. Almost Halfway Through Filming Season 4 in Vancouver

Netflix renewed its popular romance Virgin River for season 4 and season 5 today, for a total of 20 new episodes. That’s the kind of order typically reserved for Netflix’s biggest hits.

Based on the novels by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who moves to the small California town from Los Angeles after her husband Mark dies. There she falls for restaurant/bar owner and former marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) but their romance is complicated.

Virgin River is almost halfway through filming season 4 in Vancouver/Squamish.

Season 4 filming dates: August 3rd to November 30th.

Working title: Sea to Sea.

With a couple of shoots already at The Watershed Grill in Brackendale as Jack’s Bar and other locations in B.C.

Virgin River has been dominating Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings dethroning first The Crown and later Manifest for weeks at a time.

Virgin River season 3 left its fans with some major cliffhangers, so there’s avid interest in what the Netflix series is filming here in season 4.

Mel is pregnant when season 3 ends but she doesn’t know if the father is Jack or Mark. Showrunner Sue Tenney told TVLine that fans will find out the identity of the father by the end of the fourth season.

Filming locations:

Mel’s cabin is played by the 70-year-old McCrea cabin in North Vancouver’s Murdo Frazer Park, with interiors in studio.

Jack’s bar is played by The Watershed Grill in Brackendale near Squamish, with interiors in studio.
