Ryan Reynolds Takes Sabbatical From Movie Making. Break Before DEADPOOL 3?

Ryan Reynolds announced a few days ago that it was the “perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making” after wrapping his latest project Spirited.

How little a sabbatical? And what will his next project be? Could it be Deadpool 3?

It’s been 3+ years since Deadpool 2 was released in theatres and 4+ years since it filmed in Vancouver.

What’s the problem?

After Disney purchased Fox Studios, all its X-Men films were cancelled and plans for the Deadpool threequel put on hold while Disney and Marvel considered how to integrate the R-rated character into the MCU. The third Deadpool movie eventually went into development with Marvel in 2019. Ryan Reynolds and Marvel announced in November 2020 that Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin would pen the script. Deadpool 3 will remain R-rated but somehow set in the MCU.

A list of Ryan Reynold’s recent live-action projects:
