Freddie Highmore’s The Good Doctor meets Kennedy McMann’s The Good Lawyer next week when he chooses her to be his lawyer for a potential ABC spinoff of the hit medical series.

Dr. Shaun Murphy ( Freddie Highmore) seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in promising, young lawyer Joni deGroot (Kennedy McMann) who has obsessive compulsive disorder.

Shaun chooses Joni to be his lawyer.

Joni is my lawyer now. She’s smart and because of her OCD she is thorough and understands my situation. . . . it will be her first trial. – Dr. Shawn Murphy.

Felcity Huffman is Janet Stewart, a partner at the law firm who’s forced to let Joni take lead on Dr. Murphy’s case, despite having represented Richard Schiff’s Dr. Aaron Glassman for years.

This role marks Huffman’s return to acting after her conviction in the college admissions scandal.
