Starz Cancels Wrestling Series HEELS With Stephen Amell After 2 Seasons

Stephen Amell’s after-Arrow wrestling series Heels has been cancelled by Starz after two seasons. reports Variety.

Ahead of the season 2 premiere, Stephen Amell’s off-the-cuff anti-strike comments about his union SAG-AFTRA got him in trouble.

Heels showrunner Mike O’Malley reportedly called him and said: “Stephen, man, we all got to stand together”.

He got it immediately. I just think it was an unfortunate moment. I genuinely think that he put his foot in his mouth. He felt bad about it. My initial reaction was just like, ‘Ah man, I know how this is going to play” and I’ve got to talk to him about it because I don’t think he meant it to come across the way that it did. I think he was basically saying was what a lot of people were saying, which was that they were frustrated that they couldn’t work. But I know where his heart is, and his heart is standing with his union. – Mike O’Malley to EW.

Heels follows the professional wrestlers of the Duffy Wrestling League, a small independent group in Georgia. Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) inherited the league from his father and competes alongside his younger brother Ace (Alexander Ludwig) as he tries to take the league to the next level.

In season 2, Jack and Ace continued to “fight over their late father’s legacy and their individual versions of success, while also working to find their own identity as a ‘face’ or a ‘heel’.”

The series ended on a cliffhanger with Jack possibly paralyzed after a dangerous move in the ring.
