Father-and-son Kurt and Wyatt Russell had fun promoting their role on BC-and-Hawaii- and-Tokyo filmed Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, now streaming its first two episodes on Apple TV+.
The duo stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live this week to talk about playing older-and-younger versions of the same character — Leland Lafayette Shaw III aka Lee Shaw.
What’s the series about?
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans in San Francisco that was depicted in the BC-filmed 2014 blockbuster Godzilla,, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.
Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell and Kurt Russell ), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.
The series spans three generations and reveals buried secrets.
And filmed in British Columbia, Hawaii and Tokyo.
We meet the younger Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell) in the premiere.
Back in the 1950s, army officer Lee Shaw helped scientist Keiko (Mari Yamamoto) and Navy vet William Randa (Anders Holm as a younger version of John Goodman’s Kong: Skull Island character) track Titans in the South Pacific in hopes of discovering their origins.
We meet the older Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell) at the end of the second episode, seemingly a prisoner of Monarch.
