Meet Mel’s Bio Dad: He’ll Play a Bigger Role in Season 6 of VIRGIN RIVER

We meet Mel’s biological Dad on Virgin River’s Christmas specials now streaming on Netflix.

Based on the novels by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who moves to the small California town from Los Angeles after her husband Mark dies. There she falls for restaurant/bar owner and former marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).

In the season five finale titled Father Christmas, Mel and Jack track down her father Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson ) to a remote cabin in the woods . But he sends her away, saying he’s not the man she’s looking for.

Then on Christmas Day, he shows up unannounced at Mel’s cabin in the woods to say “You look so much like your mom. Seeing you just broke my heart all over again. I didn’t know what to say . . . I am your father. And I’m here now.”

Season 5 ends with an Everett cliffhanger: “I’ve got something important I need to tell you.”

It’s “definitely a bit of a bombshell [and it’s] something that informs a lot of what’s happening in Season 6.” — showrunner Patrick Sean Smith to Decider.
