Time-Crossed Lee & Keiko in BC-Filmed MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Finale

Kei, I gotta tell you — you look exactly as you’ve always looked in my mind’s eye all these years. Exactly — aged Lee Shaw.

The time-crossed Lee and Keiko reunite in Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season finale.

Mari Yamamoto’s Dr. Keiko Miura thinks she’s been stranded in the Axis Mundi for only 57 days and is devastated to learn that it’s been 56 years on the surface.

Kurt Russell’s Lee Shaw keeps his aged self hidden behind a tree until Keiko does the math. Only then does he come out to hug her.

It’s hard to convince Keiko to return to the surface where her husband Billie is dead and she’s missed decades of her son Hiroshi’s life, but her granddaughter Cate convinces her to join them in the Operation Hourglass capsule from Lee’s first trip to the Axis Mundi in 1962.

But when a cable to the Titan lure is dislodged, Lee gets out to plug it back in. Keiko tries to save Lee but he falls from her grip as the capsule is sucked into the portal — a mirror image of Wyatt Russell’s Lee trying to save Keiko in 1959.

It’s all right, Kei…thank you for everything — Lee.

Is this the end of the Lee and Keiko story? Probably, since Kurt and Wyatt Russell are not likely to return if Monarch: Legacy of Monsters gets a season 2.
