A Donald Trump origin story The Apprentice, with Sebastian Stan as the protégé and Jeremy Strong as his nefarious political mentor Roy Cohn, will debut at Cannes in May.

The Apprentice is a dive into the underbelly of the American empire. It charts a young Donald Trump’s ascent to power through a Faustian deal with the influential right-wing lawyer and political fixer Roy Cohn.

Toronto plays 1970s and 1980s New York City in the feature about the aspiring real estate tycoon which wrapped filming in late January.
