Hulu pilot Phony, a coming-of-age comedy-with-a-twist starring Sam Nivola and Connie Britton, has started filming in Vancouver.
Phony follows Sonny, a popular high school kid, (Sam Nivola) who wakes up after a strange car accident and discovers his Mom (Connie Britton) has been replaced by an impostor.
Sam Nivola plays Sonny, the most beloved student at his high school, but his Mom is the only person who really knows him.

Connie Britton plays Sonny’s single Mom Ellen and the principal of his high school.
Sam Nivola’s credits include Netflix phenom The Perfect Couple and upcoming season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus and Connie Britton’s credits include the beloved Friday Night Lights series and season one of The White Lotus.
Phony’s tone is described as Freaks and Geeks trapped in The Twilight Zone.
