Kat Coiro Gets DGA Nom for Directing THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES Premiere in BC

Kat Coiro is nominated for a Directors Guild of America (DGA) award for helming the premiere of the BC-filmed fantasy series The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Based on the bestselling books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, The Spiderwick Chronicles follows the Grace Family—twin brothers Jared (Lyon Daniels) and Simon (Noah Cottrell), their sister Mallory (Mychala Lee) and mother Helen (Joy Bryant)—as they move into their dilapidated ancestral home and begin to unravel a dark mystery about their great-great Uncle Arthur Spiderwick who once discovered the secret and maybe foreboding faerie world existing parallel to their own.

Dr. Dorian Brauer (Christian Slater) is really an evil ogre Mulgarath in disguise, who wants to steal Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Natural World to become more powerful.

The premiere Welcome to Spiderwick features the exterior of the iconic and scary Arthur Spiderwick house in Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park.
