The UK phenomenon Adolescence and American thriller Back in Action, starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, topped Netflix’s most-watched shows and films in Netflix’s What We Watched report for January to June 2025.
These are clear front-runners, with Adolescence amassing 555 million hours watched and 145 million views and Back in Action racking up 313 million hours watched and 165 million views..
But season 3 of Toronto-shot Ginny & Georgia, which dropped June 5th on the global streamer, is another monster performer. The third season, featuring Georgia on trial for murder, amassed 508.2 million hours watched and 48.1 million views in less than a month.
Season 6 of BC-filmed romance Virgin River, featuring Mel and Jack’s wedding, kept the momentum going in 2025, after amassing 157 million hours and 19 million views in just 13 days in December 2024.
In the first half of 2025, season 6 racked up 132.1 million more hours watched and 15.9 million views for a total of 289 million hours watched and 35 million views so far.
That’s why Virgin River is Netflix’s longest-running scripted drama series, with season 7 wrapped and season 8 in development.
