SHOOT: Season 8 of PSYCH Starts Filming in Vancouver

Psych started filming [eight] episodes for season eight of the USA Network show in Vancouver yesterday. Dule Hill tweeted a fun photo of Psych’s crime-fighting quartet — James Roday’s  ”psychic” Shawn Spencer, Dule Hill’s BFF Burton “Gus” Guster,  Timothy Omundson’s Santa Barbara police detective Carlton “Lassie” Lassiter and Maggie Lawson’s detective Juliet O’Hara — at their police station set in North Shore Studios in the morning.

Much later in the day, Psych filmed inside the heritage Kensington Place in the West End, with Timothy Omundson’s  Carleton “Lassie” Lassiter spotted on set. Could this be the Carleton and Marlowe love nest? Maybe not. The twenty-two European-style condos in this renovated 1912 building shouldn’t be in the  newly-married couple’s price range, with their 9-foot ceilings, Corinthian pillars and Rococo moldings.

PSYCH-Os Get Eighth Season of Filming in Vancouver – Updated

Psych-os have some news to celebrate. Their show is renewed for an eighth season [of ten episodes], taking some of the sting out of the looooonnng wait for the seventh season to start on USA Network. Psych premieres on Feburary 27th next year, almost four months after the show wrapped 121 days  of filming in Vancouver and ten months after the season six finale ended with its big cliffhanger.

Here are some non-spoilery photos of the Psych crime-fighting quartet — James Roday’s “psychic” Shawn Spencer, Dule Hill’s BFF Burton “Gus” Guster,  Timothy Omundson’s Santa Barbara police detective Carlton “Lassie” Lassiter and Maggie Lawson’s detective Juliet O’Hara  — filming in the alley next to the Orpheum Theatre in early October for the big musical episode.

PSYCH Films on July 4th And Returns to Comic-Con Next Week for 4th Year in a Row

I didn’t expect to see Psych —  American TV’s hottest fake psychic detective agency — filming on the most American holiday of the year:  July 4th, Independence Day.  I walked up to the set inside a Tudor-style apartment building on the southern edge of the South Granville neighbourhood in a rare bit of Vancouver sunshine. James Roday (fake psychic Shawn Spencer who solves crimes for the Santa Barbara police department with his superior observational skills); Dulé Hill (Shawn’s BFF and reluctant sidekick Burton “Gus” Guster) and Maggie Lawson (Santa Barbara police detective Juliet O’Hara and Shawn’s girlfriend) sat in their cast chairs outside, on a break from filming. Timothy Omundson (Santa Barbara police detective Carlton “Lassie” Lassiter and Shawn skeptic) joined them after hitting the craft table. It’s the first time I’ve seen Lassie on location this season.

Next week, more than four thousand lucky PSYCH-Os (either dressed as a pineapple or carrying one) will have the chance to both see and hear from all four leads at the standing-room-only, people-turned-away Psych panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

SHOOT: Hey Now! That’s Jeffrey Tambor Guest-starring as Juliet’s Step-Dad on PSYCH – Revised

Hey Now! That’s Jeffrey Tambor, better known as Hank Kingsley on the Larry Sanders Show and Oscar Bluth on Arrested Development, waving at me from the Psych set in the 6100 block of Boulevard in Kerrisdale today. I’m not often starstruck but I scrambled to remember just one of his catch phrases, experienced brain freeze and ended up giving him a feeble wave back.

PSYCH 6×03 This Episode Sucks on Global TV Tonight

This is old news for American Psych-Os but may,be not for some Canadian ones. On tonight’s Psych, Timothy Omundson’s buttoned-down Santa Barbara police detective Lassiter falls for a woman who could be a vampire, played by none other than Kristy Swanson, who was on the other end of the stake in feature film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oh and Psych stars James Roday, who directs This Episode Sucks, and Dule Hill dress up like Lestat from Interview with a Vampire and Blacula.

Lassitar meets the woman named Marlowe in a bar and is instantly attracted but she disappears on him. The next morning, Lassitar arrives at a crime scene with his police partner Juliet, played by Maggie Lawson, which turns out to be the roof of the Bay parkade in downtown Vancouver. I watched James Roday direct a scene of Lassitar and Juliet examining the body. They find puncture wounds on the throat and neck prompting Roday’s “psychic” detective Shawn to jokingly proclaim the killer a vampire.
