Canadian filmmaker Ann Marie Fleming’s BC-shot sci-fi feature Can I Get a Witness?, with Sandra Oh, Keira Jang and Joel Oulette, gets its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Can I Get a Witness? tells the story of a mother (Sandra Oh) and daughter (Keira Yang) in a near-future world where humans sacrifice their lives at age 50 to maintain life on Earth.
In a not-too-distant future, the survival of all species hinges on humans’ collective sacrifice of dying at age 50. As part of this effort, young artists fresh out of high school like Kiah (Keira Jang) are drafted into service to document End-of-Life protocols. This includes documenting the ceremony for Kiah’s own mother (Sandra Oh).
Filmed in Port Alberni and Powell River, Can I Get a Witness? is Sandra Oh’s second collaboration with Ann Marie Fleming.
