That’s a series wrap on Avatar: The Last Airbender in Vancouver.
Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series follows Aang the last Airbender (Gordon Cormier) and his Water Tribe friends Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) as they set out to save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

In late June, the main cast — Gordon Cormier, ,Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley — tossed their season 2 caps for season 3 caps as production began on the final season.

So did their nemesis Daniel Dae Kim aka Fire Lord Ozai who shared a photo of his season 3 cap, too.

Season 3 production actually began in Iceland with the nation’s iconic black sand beaches playing Fire Nation before cast and crew returned to Vancouver.

Out in Port Moody, crew tore down season 2’s Earth Kingdom standing set on the Flavelle Mill backlot near Rocky Point and built a new season 3 Fire Nation standing set with lots of red and Thailand-style architecture.
Daniel Dae Kim shared a photo of his arrival on the Fire Nation set.

Enter Ozai.

(The Flavelle Mill backlot in Port Moody near Rocky Point was originally built as feudal Japan sets for FX’s Shogun series, which is returning to the lot early next year for season 2.)
How did Avatar: The Last Airbender season one end?
Season one ended with Aang and his companions stopping the Fire Nation — led by Prince Zuko (Dallas Lee) , his uncle Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee),and Commander Zhao (Ken Leung) — from destroying the Northern Water Tribe, but it was a distraction from the larger war.
Zuko’s sister, Princess Azula (Elizabeth Yu), conquered Omashu, one of the two Earth Kingdom cities that had managed to stave off the Fire Nation and took King Bumi (Utkarsh Ambudkar) prisoner.
In the final two seasons, the four nations – Air, Water, Earth, Fire – unite “to bring The Legend of Aang to its proper conclusion”.
