SHOOT: Seth Gabel & Anna Torv as aged & married Lincoln Lee & Fauxlivia for FRINGE 5×12 Liberty

This is the scene of the redverse’s aged Fauxlivia (Anna Torv) out for dinner with her similarly-aged husband Lincoln Lee (Seth Gabel) in 2036 when she gets a call from Fringe Division headquarters that Olivia (also Anna Torv) has crossed over to see her. Unfortunately, not everything that was filmed in the restaurant on Hamilton Street shows up on screeen. For example, Fauxlivia and Lincoln Lee’s grownup son has been edited out of the restaurant footage but we see him in a family portrait on Fauxlivia’s desk at Fringe Division HQ.  Still, I’m glad that the  cheeky alternate universe news footage of Chelsea Clinton leading in the presidential polls survived. As Entertainment Weekly’s TV critic Ken Tucker tweeted during the live broadcast tonight: I vote for Chelsea Clinton for President. #KeepLookingUp .

SHOOT: Walter’s Window into Another World at Coal Harbour for FRINGE 5×12 Liberty – Updated

In the epic Fringe trailer for this Friday’s two-hour series finale, we catch a glimpse of Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble)’s cracked Window into Another World circa 1985 (cracked because Walter threw something at it after he saw Observer September interrupt Walternate’s discovery of a cure for his son Peter). Everything is coming full circle in Fringe’s fifth and final season. Walter must have hauled out the window from wherever he’d stored it in his ambered Harvard lab circa 2036 so that the team can have a look at Liberty Island in the parallel universe.

I suspect this will be an early scene of the attempt to infiltrate Liberty Island [to rescue the boy Michael from the detention camp] in the second-to-last episode called Liberty. Peter (Joshua Jackson), Olivia (Anna Torv), Astrid (Jasika Nicole) and Walter arrive in the dark van from last Friday’s episode and park it on the Manhattan shore [at Battery Park] — actually the seawall in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour in front of dozens of Fringe fans. In between takes, you can see good friends Jasika Nicole and Anna Torv crack up laughing.

SHOOT: SUPERNATURAL’s Kill of the Week at Century House Downtown for 8×15

While the two Js — Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles — provided eye candy for the People’s Choice Awards cameras last Wednesday night, Supernatural crew set up a shoot in the alley next to Century House downtown. Is the young lady with the fishnet stockings and pink platform-heeled shoes, Supernatural’s Kill of the Week? The man she chats with does walk away after their encounter, leaving her still standing, so we will have to wait and see. When the Winchester brothers did return to Vancouver, happy with the show’s two PCA wins — for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV show and Favorite TV Fan Following — Supernatural crew had moved out of the alley and into Century House for Thursday and Friday afternoon and night shoots. Nothing was visible from the outside of this heritage granite building so there are no clues as to what went down under its Victorian chandeliers.

SHOOT: Newlywed Stephen Amell Steals Motorcycle for ARROW 1×15 at Portal Park Downtown

Newly-married Arrow star Stephen Amell shot a scene last night in the winter cold at downtown Vancouver’s Portal Park of his character Oliver Queen dressed in a sharp suit and stealing a motorcycle. You’d think a billionaire like Queen could toss the guy a few bucks to borrow his bike but the owner refused to give it up and Queen had to adminster a beatdown. Amell did the fake beatdown himself from several different camera angles until his stunt double took over for the stunt riding and Amell waved goodbye to a fan from his departing star car. Not long after, news broke on Just Jared.com that Amell had married his longtime girlfriend Cassandra Jean over the holiday hiatus in a sunset Caribbean ceremony on Christmas Day. That might explain Arrow fight coordinator James Bamford and his wife’s Caribbean snaps over the holiday hiatus. Wonder how many Arrow cast and crew attended?

SHOOT: James Callis Films ARROW 1×15 Dodger on the Vancouver Art Gallery Roof – Updated

James Callis (best known as Gaius Baltar from Battlestar Galactica) filmed scenes for Arrow on the Vancouver Art Gallery roof today while star Stephen Amell and co-star Katie Cassidy attended the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles. [Updated: As TV Guide reported last month, Callis plays international jewel thief The Dodger, who forces innocent people to carry out his heists under duress. When the Sherwood ruby goes missing in Starling City, Amell’s Oliver Queen will try to catch this elusive thief.]

Vancouver’s own PRIMEVAL: NEW WORLD Debuts on WATCH in the U.K.

Are Vancouver VFX dinosaurs better than the British ones? British audiences will get a chance to compare on Primeval: New World tonight when UKTV’s WATCH channel debuts the series, a spinoff of Britain’s own Primeval. In fact, ARC’s Connor Temple (Andrew-Lee Potts) even paid a visit from London to the Vancouver set last March to warn new team leader Evan Cross (Niall Matter) about something that has gone wrong and to have a laugh with the new cast.

Here’s a WATCH promo showing Evan Cross (Niall Matter) and a predator control officer (Tom Butler) looking for anomalies (time portals) in Stanley Park.

After you’ve seen the premiere, check out the making of the kickass stunt from the cold open, filmed at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce tower in downtown Vancouver. I wish I’d known about this shoot ahead of time.

PROMO: FRINGE 5×11 The Boy Must Live Promo Images at West Coast Express Station

Instant sci-fi classic Fringe’s third-to-last episode called “The Boy Must Live” airs next Friday, January 11th, with more of Peter, Olivia and Walter’s desperate attempts in 2036 to figure out pre-ambered Walter’s plan to save their world from the Observer overlords. A plan that seems to involve both the child Observer Michael and the series’ pivotal Observer September, who was revealed to be the mysterious Donald in 5×10 but with greyish hair on his not-bald head? Walter uses his Harvard lab’s infamous deprivation tank (I’m betting buck naked unlike Olivia in the first season) to try to connect with September/Donald, while Captain Windmark, the final season’s Big Bad, pursues his own agenda. Or as the FOX network logline says:

Walter enters the deprivation tank in hope of uncovering information about Donald; Capt. Windmark embarks on a revealing mission.

Is pre-ambered Walter’s plan to reset time, as Olivia says in a promo? That’s the most popular fan theory but if successful to what time? In one of the promo scenes, Loyalist soldiers are all over a monorail station platform. Fringe filmed this in early November at the Waterfront Station for the West Coast Express in downtown Vancouver. FOX promo photos below show Joshua Jackson’s Peter and John Noble’s Walter Bishop tracking Loyalist soldiers on the platform while Anna Torv’s Olivia Dunham does the same inside one of the train cars.
