Hey Now! That’s Jeffrey Tambor, better known as Hank Kingsley on the Larry Sanders Show and Oscar Bluth on Arrested Development, waving at me from the Psych set in the 6100 block of Boulevard in Kerrisdale today. I’m not often starstruck but I scrambled to remember just one of his catch phrases, experienced brain freeze and ended up giving him a feeble wave back.
(I was going to touch up the Half Moon washroom rentals sign in the background, but thought Tambor wouldn’t mind.)
He’s in Vancouver to film a Psych parody of The In-Laws (the 1979 comedy classic starring Peter Falk and Alan Arkin),.
Here’s Tamber with his prospective step-son-in-law, “psychic” Shawn Spencer, played by James Roday and his stepdaughter Juliet played by Maggie Lawson .
Psych has been filming at this location dressed as the Kirkland Metal Shop for two days. Monday was the day to find them, with the filming notice detailing exterior scenes of a vehicle being towed and then of someone jumping in another car to escape simulated gunfire. That fits with talk that stepfather Lloyd has a shady past. But today everything is interior and so all I could do was photograph the cast leaving on a break.
Dule Hill was on set too as Burton “Gus” Guster.
Now we must wait for Juliet’s Mom to be cast. I mean really? What kind of woman would marry both William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and Jeffrey Tambor (Hank Kingsley/Oscar Bluth)?
