Longtime mainstream media journalist and author Susan Gittins began writing about and photographing metro Vancouver’s many film and TV location shoots in the summer of 2010 after the Winter Olympics put the city and its beauty on the world stage.
Movies and TV series often showcase Vancouver on screen as fictional places like Storybrooke, Central City, Riverdale, Smallville, Virgin River and Camp Half-Blood or real American places like Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas and New York City and sometimes Vancouver even plays itself.
Vancouver is Awesome commissioned her YVRShoots series in the fall of 2010 and it ran regularly until 2013. She launched her own daily YVRShoots blog in the spring of 2012. And rebranded as Hollywood North Buzz in 2016 to cover filming in Toronto and the rest of Canada.
