Who is the Mysterious Man from the Once Upon a Time season two premiere? He was last seen walking from Central Park in NYC to the subway and then to his hole-in-the-wall apartment where a dove dropped off a postcard with the message Broken. Mysterious indeed. But here he is back for the upcoming episode Tallahassee.
Not in the three-piece suit of the premiere, but in a muscle shirt and leather jacket as befits a fellow thief in Emma Swan’s criminal past before she had Henry.
In mid-September I unexpectedly found Michael Raymond-James and Jennifer Morrison laughing in the stolen yellow VW bug in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, pulled over by a prop Portland, Oregon, police car. The next day they shot scenes outisde and inside Pacific Central Station. And the next, at the City Centre Motor Hotel and in a dark alley off Main Street. Pretty seedy and definitely not the usual magical locations for a modern-day fairy tale series.
Could this be Henry’s father? ABC’s logline for the episode suggests it: Emma meets up with a fellow thief who wants to make an honest woman out of her. But I’m thinking conman too. The Lost reference in the episode title Tallahassee is no accident. In Lost’s The Man from Tallahassee, we find out that John Locke ended up in his wheelchair after his conman father pushed him out of an eight-storey window. Michael Raymond-James = conman. Just look at that smile.
Once Upon a Time’s Tallahassee airs on Sunday, November 4th, at 8 p.m. on ABC in the U.S. and at 7 p.m. on CTV in Canada.
