UPFRONT: Post-Apocalyptic Series THE 100 to Debut on The CW in 2014

Based on an upcoming book series, The 100 is about a hundred juvenile delinquents sent back to Earth from space almost a hundred years after nuclear  war to see if the planet is habitable. And judging from the trailer filmed in our local forests, at least one section of the planet has recovered nicely. The CW showed the clip at today’s Upfront for advertisers in New York to enthusiastic response and announced it will schedule the show for mid-season.

Only the pretty ones survive, joked Television without Pity. The filmed-in-Vancouver show has plenty of them: Eliza Taylor, Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy), Henry Ian Cusick (Lost), Marie Avgeropoulos (below), Paige Turco and Thomas McDonell.

In other CW news, Arrow star Stephen Amell and his cousin Robbie from new series The Tomorrow People took to the stage and shared a childhood photo to a chorus of awwws from the audience. There are rumours that Robbie Amell will be joining his cousin in Vancouver if The Tomorrow People shifts production here. For now it’s only scheduled as Arrow’s new brother show on Wednesday nights this Fall. Former Wednesday night show Supernatural is moving to Tuesday nights at 9 p.m.
