START DATE: NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB Expected to Start Filming Here in Mid-February

untitled (4)

UPDATE: Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is kicking off its shoot with several days of filming in London at the real British Museum followed by a stop in New York.

Downton Abbey’s Matthew (Dan Stevens) lives on as Sir Lancelot in London’s British Museum for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, the third installment of the billion-dollar museum franchise that is filmed in Vancouver. Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), his boss Dr. McPhee (Ricky Gervais), Jedediah (Owen Wilson), and Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) end up in this most august of British institutions — built on a Burnaby soundstage — along with a new night guard (Rebel Wilson) and a recast Nicky Daley (Skyler Gisondo). UPDATE: Deadline Hollywood reported Sir Ben Kingsley added to cast as Egyptian pharaoh on display in the museum who is revived by a magical tablet.

Filming in Vancouver is expected to start in [mid-February] and wrap in mid-May (dates subject to change) but don’t expect to see much, with only three days scheduled out of studio so far. Our best hope is that Gastown stands in for London, as it has for other productions. See the Psych season eight premiere.
